The INTELLECTRIC SHS (Serial Hybrid System) from Dynamic Drives Giessen was developed for applications where conventional e-bike drives reach their limits. This low-maintenance system combines industrial drive technology with modern e-mobility and delivers reliable performance even under high continuous loads, demanding operating conditions, and intensive daily use.
At its core is a serial hybrid drive without traditional mechanical power transmission. Instead of a chain, derailleur, or gearbox, the pedal generator produces electrical energy that is transmitted directly to the drive motors. This results in a particularly robust, low-wear, and flexibly integrable system for professional mobility solutions.

The technical foundation of the INTELLECTRIC SHS is rooted in decades of experience in industrial generator and drive system engineering at Johannes Hübner Giessen GmbH. The modular drive components of the INTELLECTRIC system can be flexibly integrated into a wide variety of vehicle types. We also offer individual assemblies or system components to OEMs and vehicle manufacturers. For sufficient quantities, the components can be customized and jointly optimized to meet existing interfaces and requirements.

Our all-electric INTELLECTRIC drive system (iSHS) is a wear- and maintenance-free system. This offers significant advantages, particularly in terms of service, manufacturing, and installation – advantages that are also reflected in the price.

Powerful features

The INTELLECTRIC SHS utilizes a high-performance lithium iron phosphate battery system with a 48-volt system voltage and up to two interchangeable batteries, each with a capacity of 1.44 kWh. Lockable battery compartments provide added security for everyday use. The robust battery technology offers a long service life, thermal stability, and reliable performance—ideal for professional heavy-duty applications.

Low-maintenance handling

With the simple Plug & Play system, tire, wheel, and motor changes are easy and, most importantly, fast. The individual components can be exchanged and reinstalled in just a few steps, greatly simplifying service, repairs, and modifications.

High ride comfort

With the particularly good handling characteristics of our drive system, you will reach your destination safely and confidently. Consistent acceleration with a short response time, a low center of gravity for tipping stability and directional stability give you a pleasant riding experience.

Smart PUSH assistance

The push assistance gives you a tailwind and supports you when pushing your vehicle. With the PUSH function, you can effortlessly ascend steep inclines.

Anti-theft protection

The INTELLECTRIC can be password-protected against unauthorized use, providing additional security in everyday use.

INTELLECTRIC Serial Hybrid System – how the iSHS works

The INTELLECTRIC system operates as a fully electric series hybrid drive. The rider’s pedaling force is not mechanically transmitted to the wheels, but is converted into electrical energy via a generator. This energy powers the wheel hub motors and the vehicle’s electronic components. This completely eliminates the need for traditional mechanical power transmission using a chain, sprocket set, or derailleur. This significantly reduces wear, maintenance requirements, and downtime.

The result: a low-maintenance, chainless direct drive with high efficiency and precise control—ideal for electric cargo bikes in professional use.

The system provides assistance up to 25 km/h in accordance with pedelec regulations and also features:

  • electric start assist
  • push assist (forward and reverse)
  • integrated reverse gear
  • three assistance levels
  • energy recovery through regenerative braking
